GoatLabels vs Shippo: Shippo excels as multi-carrier API shipping software. Choose GoatLabels if you want AI (Billy) to draft labels from DMs and screenshots, fund a wallet with crypto or card, and ship without a monthly minimum — built for social-first sellers.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL — live all-in rates, no monthly minimum to print.
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto — one prepaid balance.
Both print multi-carrier labels and both have an API, so the interesting question is not which one buys a label. It is how an order gets into the tool in the first place, and what it costs you in a month when nothing sells.
| GoatLabels | Shippo | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it's built for | Social-first sellers and the devs who back them up — TikTok, Instagram DMs, Etsy, Shopify. | Multi-carrier shipping software, strongest as an API layer for storefronts and platforms. |
| Getting an order into the tool | Paste it, dictate it, or drop a screenshot of the DM — Billy drafts the whole label. | Store sync, CSV import, or an API call. A screenshot is not an input. |
| Carriers rate-shopped | USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL with live all-in rates. | Broad multi-carrier list — see their site for current coverage. |
| Monthly minimum to print | None. Fund a wallet, pay per label, ship nothing in February and pay nothing. | Plan-dependent — check their current pricing. |
| How you fund labels | Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH bank transfer, or crypto into one prepaid balance. | Standard SaaS billing. |
| API | REST + JSON, Bearer auth, idempotency keys, signed webhooks. | Mature, well-documented API — this is their home turf. |
Shippo is a trademark of its owner and is not affiliated with GoatLabels. Their plans and carrier list change — compare against their current pricing page before you decide.
Shippo assumes an order already exists in a system it can read. Half a social seller's day does not look like that: it looks like a DM, a comment thread, a voice note, a screenshot. Billy takes any of those and produces a drafted label you confirm.
GoatLabels has no monthly minimum to print. Fund the wallet, buy labels from the balance, and let a slow month cost nothing. Pro is a flat optional plan for when volume makes cheaper label pricing worth it.
Leaving an API-first tool should not mean leaving the API. REST, JSON, one Bearer header, idempotency keys, and signed webhooks — the dashboard and the API buy the same labels from the same balance.
Nothing here asks you to abandon structured orders — store connectors and the REST API both feed the same To Ship queue they always did. The difference is what happens to the orders that never became structured data in the first place: paste the message, drop the screenshot, or dictate it, and Billy fills in the addresses, the package details, and the service, then hands the draft back for you to confirm. Every label is a debit against a prepaid wallet topped up with card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto, so there is no monthly minimum to print and a month with no orders costs nothing. Rate-shop USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL at the all-in price, print from your phone or a thermal printer, and let signed webhooks and idempotency keys cover the same events on the API side.
Hey! 2x hoodies (M) 1x tee (L) 😅 Ship to: Maya R. Austin, TX 78701
Connectors, REST API, DMs, and screenshots — one queue, no import mapping.
No monthly minimum to print. Signed webhooks push tracking back to the store and to your stack.
Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and TikTok Shop sync into To Ship and get tracking pushed back when you print — the part any shipping tool should handle. The difference is the rest: paste an Instagram or Facebook DM, or a screenshot of one, and Billy builds the label without a connector existing at all.
Via AItiles: an order that never became a record still becomes a label.
Leaving Shippo should not mean leaving the API, the carriers, or the all-in quote. These are the pieces that came with you — plus the two that did not exist there: AI drafting for orders that never became JSON, and a prepaid wallet with no monthly minimum under it.
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH bank transfer, and crypto all top up the same balance, and every method buys identical rates, carriers, and features. Void a shipment and the credit lands back in the wallet.
A DM, a comment thread, a voice note, a screenshot — Billy reads any of them and drafts the whole label. This is the input Shippo has no field for, and it is where most of a social seller's day actually lives.
Fund the wallet, pay per label, and ship nothing in February without paying for February. Pro is an optional flat plan for when volume makes cheaper label pricing worth it — not a gate on printing at all.
Live all-in rates side by side, and the number you see is the exact amount that leaves your balance. That is the honest carrier list — if you need one outside it, Shippo's broader network is the reason to stay. Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and TikTok Shop sync into To Ship and get tracking pushed back when you print, but a connector is never a prerequisite: sellers who work out of DMs paste or screenshot the order and connect nothing at all.
REST and JSON, one Bearer header, idempotency keys so a retry cannot double-buy a label, and signed webhooks for tracking and label events instead of polling. The dashboard and the API buy from the same balance.

Shippo expects an order to already exist somewhere it can read. If yours arrives as a message, you are the integration — retyping a name, an address, and a weight into a form on a laptop you are not sitting at. GoatLabels takes the message itself, on the phone already in your hand.
Shippo's API is very good at moving orders that already exist somewhere structured. This is the other half of the day. Hold the mic, say who it is going to, and Billy looks up the buyer, rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, and queues the label against your prepaid balance — then answers for it afterwards. This is the real product, not a render.

Plain English in — names, addresses, weights, carriers, services · nothing to import and nothing to map · reads the all-in rate back before a cent leaves the wallet · phone, browser, or Telegram.
Three carriers on the same parcel, each an all-in number that is the exact amount leaving your prepaid balance. Nothing arrives the day after with an adjustment on it, and voiding a shipment credits the wallet rather than a card statement three weeks out.

REST, JSON, one Bearer header. Real idempotency keys so a retried request cannot double-buy a label, signed webhooks for tracking and label events instead of polling, and errors that name what to fix. The dashboard and the API buy from the same prepaid balance, so nothing has to be reconciled between them.

Free covers 50 shipments a month with the public API, the store connectors, and Billy all unlimited underneath it — we make a little on each label instead. Pro is a flat monthly fee for unlimited shipments, cheaper label pricing, and Billy on Telegram: the plan for the months a drop lands and the label count stops being the point. Neither one is a minimum you have to hit before a label prints.

A video took off and I had 80 TikTok Shop orders by morning. I printed every label from my phone on the bus to the post office.

I run my Etsy shop from the kitchen. The AI reads the order, picks the carrier, the label prints. That's the whole workflow now.

The API is what every shipping API pretends to be. Idempotency that actually works.
