What actually moves when you leave Shippo .

Migrations are frightening in proportion to how much state they move. This one moves very little: no carrier accounts to re-provision, no negotiated contracts to transfer, and no data model to map. The address book is a CSV, the storefronts are a few clicks, and the labels start the moment the wallet has money in it.

  GoatLabels Shippo
Step 1 — open the account Free, in seconds, no card required. Nothing on the Shippo side has to change yet. Keep it running exactly as it is while you evaluate.
Step 2 — bring the addresses Export your address book to CSV and import it, or skip it entirely: Billy reads addresses from pasted orders. Exports are available from their dashboard — check their current docs for the path.
Step 3 — reconnect the stores Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and TikTok Shop connect in a few clicks and start filling the To Ship queue. Leave the connectors in place until you have printed a few labels here.
Step 4 — fund the wallet Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto into one prepaid balance. Top up what a week of labels costs. Your existing plan keeps billing on its own cycle until you cancel it.
Step 5 — print one real label Rate-shop the parcel, compare the all-in number, buy it. That comparison is the whole decision. Quote the same parcel there and compare the carrier rate plus whatever your plan adds.
Step 6 — cancel, or don't No contract and no monthly minimum, so running in parallel costs you nothing but the labels you buy. Cancel when you are satisfied — not before, and not on our timetable.

Shippo is a trademark of its owner and is not affiliated with GoatLabels. Their plans, fees, and carrier list change — compare against their current pricing page before you decide.

Three things that make this switch cheap.

You can run both at once for free

There is no monthly minimum to print here, so keeping GoatLabels alongside Shippo costs exactly the labels you buy through it. Ship a day's orders each way and compare real all-in numbers instead of arguing about pricing pages.

The savings start on the first label

There is no per-label platform fee to negotiate away and no tier to reach before the pricing improves. The carrier rate you accept is the amount debited from the wallet, from the very first parcel you print.

Billy does the setup you'd otherwise type

You do not have to migrate an address book to get started. Paste an order, drop a screenshot, or say the address, and Billy drafts the whole label — recipient, parcel, and service — so your first shipment happens before any import does.

And when you should not switch

  • You need a carrier outside USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL — that four-carrier list is the honest one, and Shippo's network is broader.
  • You run your own negotiated carrier accounts through Shippo. Bring-your-own-account is well supported there and it is not what this product does.
  • Your setup is stable, the cost is budgeted, and nobody is unhappy. Switching tools has a real cost in attention, and a migration guide is not a reason to spend it.
Your first hour on GoatLabels

The same pipeline you already run. Fewer things standing in front of it.

Start with an account and a funded wallet — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto — and you can print before you have imported anything at all. Connect Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, or TikTok Shop when you are ready and orders drop into the To Ship queue with tracking pushed back on print; wire the free REST API when your developer has an afternoon. In the meantime, paste an order, drop a screenshot, or dictate it, and Billy fills in the addresses, the package details, and the service, then hands the draft back for you to confirm. Rate-shop USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL at the all-in price, buy from the prepaid balance with no platform fee inserted in between, and print from your phone or a thermal printer. Nothing on the Shippo side has to be cancelled for any of that to work.

Everything you actually used.
Minus the fee and the tier.

The carriers, the store connectors, the batch printing, and the API all came with you — that is why this migration is short. What stays behind is the platform fee on every label and the subscription under it, and what arrives is an assistant that drafts labels from the orders no connector ever saw.

Day one, from the packing table

Your first label needs a phone, not a migration.

Most tool switches start with an import screen. This one can start with the next order that lands: paste it, snap it, or say it, and Billy drafts the label on the phone already in your hand. The address book import is something you do later, if you bother at all.

Paste the DM, snap the thread, or drop the screenshot — Billy pulls the name, the address, and the parcel out of it.
No import mapping and no CSV step required before your first label prints.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL come back as four all-in prices on one screen.
Buy from the prepaid balance and one-tap print to a share sheet or a thermal printer over Wi-Fi.
Hold the mic at the packing table and say the address — Billy drafts it and reads the rate back.
No training, no onboarding call

Talk to Billy, not to a setup wizard.

The real cost of switching tools is the week your team spends learning one. Hold the mic, say who the parcel is going to, and Billy looks up the buyer, rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, and queues the label against your prepaid balance — then answers for it afterwards when someone asks where the parcel is. This is the real product, not a render.

Switching from Shippo — FAQ

How long does switching from Shippo take?
The first label takes minutes: create a free account, fund the prepaid wallet, and paste or dictate an order for Billy to draft. Reconnecting Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, or TikTok Shop is a few clicks each, and porting an API client is the same three calls you already write.
Do I have to cancel Shippo first?
No, and you should not. Run both in parallel — there is no monthly minimum here, so the overlap costs only the labels you actually buy through GoatLabels. Cancel when the comparison has convinced you, not before.
Can I bring my address book across?
Yes, by CSV import — or skip it. Billy reads addresses straight out of a pasted order, a screenshot, or a spoken description, so most sellers print several labels before they ever get around to importing anything.
Do I need to move my carrier accounts?
No. Rates for USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL come from our accounts, so there is nothing to provision, transfer, or re-verify. If you run your own negotiated carrier contracts, that is a fair reason to stay on Shippo instead.
What about tracking and webhooks I already rely on?
Store connectors push tracking back to the order when you print, and the API sends signed webhooks for tracking and label events so you are not polling. Both are included on the free plan with unlimited calls.
What will it cost on day one?
Whatever the labels cost. The account is free, the API is free and unlimited, the connectors are included, and there is no per-label platform fee — you fund a wallet and each label debits the all-in carrier rate you accepted.
What if I switch and it does not suit us?
There is no contract and no monthly minimum, so stopping costs nothing. Any balance left in the wallet stays there, and voided labels credit back to it rather than waiting on a refund cycle.
