Operations hub: stock tracking beside your shipping labels

Part of Pro, not on Free.

The GoatLabels Operations hub tracks stock counts, warehouses, purchase orders and month-end shipping costs in the dashboard where you buy labels. It is part of the Pro plan and is not on Free. A label moves stock only when a line carries a SKU that matches a tracked product, and a void is the only label event that restocks.

Stock comes off at purchase and goes back if you void it.

What is the Operations hub, and who gets it?

The Operations hub is the part of the GoatLabels dashboard that keeps stock counts and month-end numbers beside the labels you buy. It is part of the Pro plan and is not on Free. GoatLabels does not store your goods. It tracks your counts.

Plan and status facts, checked

  • Pro is $40 a month with unlimited shipments. Included with Pro, with no separate add-on fee.
  • Free covers 50 shipments a month and has no hub features.
  • Labels are paid for separately from a prepaid wallet, at the same prices on both plans.
  • The dashboard currently labels the hub Beta, with a feedback link.

How does stock move in the Operations hub?

Buy a label with a matched SKU and the shipped quantity comes off that warehouse's count. Void the label and those units go back. A label moves stock at purchase, and only when all of these are true:

  • You had hub access on the Pro plan when you bought the label.
  • The label is outbound. Return and inbound labels are skipped.
  • A line on the label carries a SKU.
  • That SKU exactly matches a product, case-sensitive.
  • The product has stock tracking on, the default.

Each line moves by its quantity. An unmatched SKU is ignored, the other lines still move, and the label still buys. A sale is never refused at zero: the count goes negative and shows as oversold. If a stock write fails, the label stays bought and the count does not change.

What happens to stock, by order source

Every source can buy a label. What differs is whether the label carries a SKU.

What happens to Operations hub stock for each order source, checked 2026-11-05
Order source SKU on the label What happens to stock
Dashboard When you pick a catalog product or enter a SKU Moves when matched
Batch Import CSV SKU column, one line per row; a description is also required Moves 1 unit per matched row that has both
API Optional field Moves if you send a matching SKU
Billy Optional; left out if you did not state the contents Moves when matched
Shopify When the store line has one Moves when matched
WooCommerce When the store line has one Moves when matched
Etsy When the listing has one; can be blank Moves when matched
eBay When the listing has one; can be blank Moves when matched
Wix Dropped; the order keeps title and quantity only Does not move, unless you add a SKU to the draft by hand
Bulk Import CSV Never; the file has no SKU column Does not move
Return labels Not used Never moves; add returned goods by hand or with a receipt

GoatLabels product behavior, checked 2026-11-05. Bulk buying drafts and auto-buy use whatever SKU the draft holds.

What restocks, and what does not

A void is the only label event that restocks. It reverses what that label took off, to the same warehouse, without waiting for a refund to clear. If the carrier later scans a voided label, the units come off again.

These do not restock: a delivered label, which cannot be voided; a void the carrier refuses; a return label; a store cancellation; a wallet refund; a carrier adjustment.

What is on the Operations hub?

All of this is on the Pro plan, and none of it is on Free.

  • Stock grid and ledger. See on-hand for each SKU in each warehouse you track. Every stock change is a line in a ledger, with the reason and who made it.
  • Warehouses. Flag any saved ship-from address as a warehouse and track stock there. Warehouses holding stock are capped, so ask us before you plan on many.
  • Reorder points and alerts. Set a reorder point on a product and get an alert when a warehouse's count reaches it. That number is tested per warehouse, while suggested reorders use the total. Alerts arrive by email, in the dashboard or on Telegram with a linked chat, once per dip and only after a stock movement.
  • Month-end statement. A month-end statement shows units shipped, shipping paid and product cost at your own unit costs, by SKU, sales channel and warehouse, plus shipping paid by carrier. Download the statement as a PDF, or as CSV views for your bookkeeper. Product cost needs a matched SKU and your unit cost. Shipping by SKU is allocated, and past months recalculate at today's unit cost. USD only.
  • QuickBooks Online and Xero files. Export the month as a CSV your bookkeeper imports into QuickBooks Online or Xero. There is no live connection. Set your account names or codes first, since the import rejects ones it does not know. Check the file against the statement before you post it.
  • Scan-to-pack. Scan the packing slip, then each item, with a USB or Bluetooth scanner that works as a keyboard. Packing does not move stock.
  • Pick lists. Print one pick list for up to 50 orders, sorted by pick location, with a barcode on each line that has a GTIN or SKU.
  • Purchase orders and receiving. Raise numbered purchase orders, email your supplier a PDF link, and see what's on order. Receive a delivery in full or in part, and the units go into stock with a link back to the order. Suggested quantities restock to twice the reorder point.
  • Stock sync to Shopify and WooCommerce. Turn on stock sync per store to push your GoatLabels count to Shopify or WooCommerce. It is one way and matched by SKU, and it overwrites the store count. An already connected Shopify store must reinstall first. A sale lowers GoatLabels only when its label is bought, so a sync in between can send a stale count. The label for that store's own order then skips the push to that store, so its count can stay too high until a stock change from another source. An optional per-store buffer reduces this and does not remove it.
  • Billy. On Pro, ask Billy in the dashboard or on Telegram what's low or what last month cost.
  • Hub API and webhooks. Read and update products, stock, suppliers and purchase orders through the REST API, and pull the month-end report. Get webhooks for stock adjustments, low stock, and purchase orders sent or received. Label purchases and voids do not fire the stock adjustment webhook.

Store setup is on shipping labels for Shopify and shipping labels for WooCommerce, and the month-end method is on bookkeeping for shipping costs.

It is stock tracking attached to label buying. Each row shows what you get instead.

What the Operations hub is not, and what is there instead, checked 2026-11-05
It is not What is there instead
A warehouse management system Counts per product per warehouse, no location hierarchy
Bin-level stock One free-text pick location per product, which the Pack screen calls bin
Lots, serials or expiry dates None; one whole-number count per SKU per warehouse
Multi-channel allocation or reservations On-hand only; drafts hold nothing
Forecasting One formula: restock to twice the reorder point
Warehouse transfers None; use two manual adjustments
Kits or bundles None; the API docs suggest turning tracking off for bundles
A costing method One current unit cost; no FIFO, average or landed cost
Two-way store sync One way; store counts are overwritten
Automatic return restock Return labels never move stock
A live accounting connection A CSV you import, USD only
A physical warehouse or 3PL Software counts only; goods stay with you
A mobile app or camera scanner A browser with a keyboard-style scanner
A supplier portal Email with a PDF link that expires after 60 days
Retroactive Labels bought before access, or before the product existed, are not counted
Plug and play Needs products with SKUs, unit costs, starting counts and usually a warehouse

Who does the Operations hub fit?

It fits a parcel shipper whose orders carry clean SKUs, mainly from Shopify or WooCommerce or an API sending SKUs, and who wants counts and month-end numbers beside label buying.

Who should keep or buy something else?

Keep what you have, or buy something else, if you need bins, lots, serials, allocation, forecasting, or a bulk CSV workflow that must move stock.

  • Your orders mostly arrive through Wix or Bulk Import CSV, so the count would rarely move.
  • You need two-way sync, or stock sync to Etsy, eBay or Wix.
  • You need kits or transfers. The scope comparison below shows who lists them.
  • You want someone to store and pick your goods. That is a 3PL.
  • You send up to 50 shipments a month and need no stock tracking. Free fits that.

How does the hub's scope compare with other shipping tools?

This table shows each plan, its list price and what each company's own page listed on November 5, 2026.

ShipStation, Ordoro and Veeqo each list bundles or kits, forecasting and warehouse transfers. The hub has none of those. Veeqo's Inventory plan starts at a lower list price than Pro, and its free Shipping plan lists unlimited warehouses and locations.

How do I start with the Operations hub?

Upgrade to Pro, open More, then Operations, add products with SKUs and unit costs, load your counts, and connect a store.

  • Upgrade to Pro, then open More, then Operations. A Free account sees an upgrade card there.
  • Add products with SKUs and unit costs. By hand, from a spreadsheet, or through the API. Store catalogs do not import into Products.
  • Load your counts. Load starting counts, unit costs and reorder points from a CSV of up to 5,000 rows.
  • Connect a store. To send counts to Shopify or WooCommerce, turn on stock sync on its card under Connect.

What GoatLabels does and does not do. GoatLabels sells shipping labels from a prepaid wallet, and on the Pro plan the hub keeps your counts beside them. It does not store or pick your goods. Check counts against your shelf.

Operations hub: FAQ

Does GoatLabels do inventory?
Yes, on the Pro plan. The Operations hub tracks stock per SKU per warehouse, with reorder alerts, purchase orders and a month-end statement. It is not on Free, and it is not a warehouse management system.
Is the Operations hub free?
No. The Operations hub is part of the Pro plan and is not on Free. There is no separate add-on fee on Pro, and labels are paid for separately.
Does every label take stock off?
No. A label moves stock only when a line carries a SKU that matches a tracked product and you had hub access at purchase. Bulk Import CSV labels, Wix orders without a SKU added by hand, and return labels do not move stock.
Do returns or refunds put stock back?
No. Only a void restocks automatically. A return label, a wallet refund and a store cancellation do not move stock, so add returned goods by hand or with a receipt.
Does stock sync work both ways?
No. On Pro, stock sync pushes your GoatLabels count to Shopify or WooCommerce and overwrites the store count. It never reads it back, it does not reach Etsy, eBay or Wix, and it does not prevent overselling.
