Shipping labels for Depop sellers

Check the band against a live quote.

US Depop sellers choose per listing: Depop's prepaid label, priced in flat weight bands, or shipping on your own with live rates and mandatory tracking on the sale. Flat bands overprice parcels sitting just under a band's ceiling; live quotes track actual weight. The comparison is checkable on your own parcel.

How Depop's prepaid label bands price a parcel

Depop's prepaid US labels price by band, not by scale reading. When you list, you pick a size class; when the item sells, the label costs whatever that whole band costs, and every parcel inside the band pays the same. That is a step function, and step functions have a predictable shape: they are kindest to a parcel sitting just over the previous ceiling and cruelest to one sitting just under its own. A featherweight slip dress and a chunky knit can land in the same band and pay the same postage, even though a live carrier quote would price them far apart. The band is not a discount and not a markup — it is an average, and averages are always subsidised by somebody.

The seller-side consequence is that band pricing punishes exactly the inventory fashion resale is made of: light, soft goods that compress into small mailers. A live rate slides down with the ounces; a band cannot. Whether your parcels sit on the expensive side of their band is not something this page can know — but it is checkable in about a minute. Weigh a typical sold item in its mailer, get a live quote for it, and put that number against the band price you have been paying. Repeat for your two or three usual parcel shapes and you have an answer that is about your shop, not about averages.

Ship on Your Own: what Depop requires from you

Depop's other path is shipping on your own, chosen per listing, and it swaps convenience for obligations that are easy to underestimate. The parcel must go to the address on the Depop receipt — not a corrected version the buyer messaged you afterwards. The shipment must be tracked, and the tracking number must be entered against the sale so Depop can see movement; an own-label sale with no tracking on it is, from the platform's point of view, a sale that never shipped. And the clock matters: Depop expects dispatch within its stated window, and slow or invisible shipping is what triggers disputes, not the label's logo.

None of these requirements is onerous if the workflow assumes them. A live quote across USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL comes back with tracking included on every service worth using, the address from the receipt is validated before you pay — with the residential or commercial classification shown — and the tracking number exists the moment the label does. The only genuinely manual step Depop leaves you is pasting that number back onto the sale, and no outside tool can do that for you.

Policy reference — Depop sets these rules, we do not. Band boundaries, band prices, dispatch windows, and protection conditions are Depop's to change, and this page deliberately prints none of those figures anywhere: they are the parts that rot fastest, and the third-party articles quoting them disagree with each other. The governing source is Depop's own Help Centre articles on shipping and seller protection. Mechanisms above verified against those articles on 2026-08-15; re-checked every six months by the named marketing owner recorded with this page.

What protection follows which label

Protection is where the two paths genuinely differ, and the difference is about evidence, not loyalty. Depop's seller protection is conditional on the platform being able to see what happened: a sale shipped to the address on the receipt, with tracking that shows the journey, inside the expected window. The prepaid label satisfies those conditions automatically, because Depop issued it and watches it. An own label satisfies them only if you do — which is why the tracking-paste step from the previous section is not admin, it is your protection coverage being switched on.

So read the choice honestly. If a sale goes wrong — item not received, a dispute, a payment reversal — the seller with a tracked own-label shipment to the receipt address is standing on the same evidence as the seller with a prepaid label. The seller who shipped untracked to be frugal, or shipped to a DM-corrected address to be kind, is standing on nothing. The savings from a better label price are real, but they are only durable if the own-label path is run with the same discipline the prepaid path enforces for you.

Getting a Depop sale into a label without a connector

There is no Depop connector — store sync covers Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and TikTok Shop only, and this page will not pretend otherwise. The Depop-shaped workflow is copy-out, paste-in: open the sold receipt, copy the buyer and address block, and paste it into GoatLabels, where Billy drafts the label and the address is validated before any money moves — the full paste-and-draft workflow is the AI shipping labels page's territory. The parcel then gets four live quotes, and light apparel parcels are precisely where the four carriers disagree most; the cheapest ground services comparison owns the question of where each carrier's cheap tier actually wins, so the crossover is not re-derived here.

Buy the winner from the prepaid wallet, print the 4×6, and paste the tracking number back onto the Depop sale before the parcel leaves your hands — that last step is the one Depop grades you on. A wrong buy is recoverable: voiding the label credits the wallet, spendable on the corrected one immediately.

Depop is a trademark of its owner and is not affiliated with GoatLabels. Its label bands, windows, and protection terms are its own and change — check Depop's Help Centre for today's specifics.

One Ship on Your Own sale, end to end

From the sold receipt to tracking on the Depop sale.

Shipping on your own is the same loop as any other sale with three obligations bolted to it: the receipt address, a tracked service, and the number entered back on the sale. This is that loop in the order it happens — copy the receipt block, let Billy draft and validate, price the parcel's real ounces against three carriers, pay from one prepaid balance, and hand the tracking number back to Depop yourself.

No Depop connector. The sold receipt is the handoff.

Store sync covers Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, TikTok Shop, Amazon, eBay, Squarespace, Wix, Walmart, Square, BigCommerce, Magento, and Temu — thirteen storefronts whose orders land in one To Ship queue with tracking pushed back on print. Depop is on none of them. A Depop sale reaches a label the way any unconnected order does: copy the buyer and address block out of the sold receipt, paste it, and put the tracking number back on the sale yourself.

Via AItiles: paste the receipt block or a screenshot and Billy builds the label — the same path a Depop sale takes, because no connector exists for it.

Ship on Your Own is a set of obligations: the receipt address, a tracked service, movement Depop can see. Each piece below exists so meeting them is the default rather than a discipline.

Postage money that waits
between sales

Resale is bursty: three sales on a good weekend, silence for a week. One prepaid balance funded by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto spends per label with no monthly minimum to print — so the quiet week costs nothing, and the band price is compared against postage alone, not postage plus a subscription.

Billy is included, not a resale-tier extra

Ask where a sale got to without unpacking the pile.

A resale shop runs in bursts: three sales, one evening, a table covered in mailers. Ask out loud which parcel a buyer is chasing and Billy finds the shipment and reads the tracking status back, so the reply you owe takes a sentence instead of a search. Included on every plan, which matters when the entire point is to compare a live rate against a band with no subscription sitting in between. This is the real product, not a render.

A size class is a guess. A scale reading is not.

A banded prepaid label charges the whole band, so a soft, compressible piece sitting low in its class pays for ounces it does not have. Three carriers priced against the same weighed mailer give you one all-in number each, and the column you pick is exactly what leaves the prepaid balance — the figure to put next to the band price on your own sale. Figures are illustrative.

Pricing that keeps the band comparison honest

Pay per label. Never per quiet week.

A subscription would quietly rig the comparison this whole page is about: a monthly fee has to be recovered across however many sales happened, which moves the crossover against the own-label path before a single parcel is weighed. Free covers a typical resale shop outright, so the number you put next to Depop's band is postage and nothing else.

Depop shipping labels — FAQ

How do Depop's prepaid label weight bands work?
You choose a size class at listing time, and the label price is the band's price — every parcel inside the band pays the same regardless of its exact weight. That averaging overprices parcels sitting just under a band's ceiling and flatters ones just over the previous ceiling. The current band boundaries and prices live in Depop's Help Centre, which is the only source worth trusting for them.
When does shipping on my own beat a Depop label?
When a live quote for your actual parcel beats the band price you would otherwise pay — which is most likely on light, compressible items sitting low in their band, and least likely on parcels that just cleared into a new band. There is no universal answer: weigh a typical sold item, quote it live across four carriers, and compare against the band. The comparison takes a minute and is specific to your shop.
What tracking does Depop require for own-label sales?
A tracked service, shipped to the address on the Depop receipt, with the tracking number entered against the sale so Depop can see the parcel move. An own-label sale without tracking on it looks unshipped to the platform, which is how disputes start. Every worthwhile service quoted here includes tracking, so the requirement costs nothing — the only manual step is pasting the number back onto the sale.
Does buyer protection change when I use my own label?
The conditions stay, but meeting them becomes your job. Protection turns on evidence: tracked shipping, to the receipt address, in the expected window. A prepaid label satisfies that automatically; an own label satisfies it when you run the same discipline yourself. Ship untracked or ship to an address the buyer corrected in a DM, and you are outside the conditions — the current terms live in Depop's Help Centre.
Does GoatLabels connect to Depop?
No — there is no Depop connector, and Depop requires the tracking number to be entered on the sale yourself either way. Copy the address block from the sold receipt, paste it here, and Billy drafts the label with the address validated before you pay. Buy from the prepaid wallet, then paste the tracking number back onto the Depop sale. Sync is reserved for Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and TikTok Shop.
