GoatLabels delivers EasyPost-style four-carrier rate shopping through a full web dashboard and Billy AI, so non-developers ship without writing an integration first.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted live in the dashboard — no credentials, no sandbox, no build.
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto — one prepaid balance, no build phase.
Both rate-shop multiple carriers and both expose a REST API, so the interesting question is not which one buys a label. It is who has to be sitting at a keyboard before the first one prints.
| GoatLabels | EasyPost | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get on day one | A dashboard you log into and print from, plus an API waiting underneath when you want it. | API credentials. The shipping happens in whatever you build on top of them. |
| Who has to be in the room | The person packing the boxes. Nobody has to be able to read JSON. | Someone who can write and host an integration, and keep it running. |
| Getting an order into the tool | Store sync, an API call, a pasted DM, a screenshot, or your voice. | A structured API request your code constructs. |
| Carriers rate-shopped | USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, quoted as live all-in rates on one screen. | Broad carrier support — designed to be queried in code. |
| Cost of the platform itself | No monthly minimum to print, and the REST API is free and unlimited. | Developer-platform pricing that scales with shipment volume — see their site. |
| Fixing a bad address at 9pm | Edit it in the dashboard, or tell Billy. The label reprints. | A code path someone has to have written in advance. |
EasyPost is a trademark of its owner and is not affiliated with GoatLabels. Their plans, fees, and carrier list change — compare against their current pricing page before you decide.
EasyPost is a very good API, and an API is not a product a packer can use. GoatLabels puts the same four-carrier rate shopping behind a login: search the order, see USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL side by side, buy the one that fits, print. Nobody has to build the screen first.
For a small shop, the cost of an API-only platform is rarely the fee — it is the weeks of contractor time before the first label prints, and the person you call when it breaks. A dashboard has no build phase to budget for.
Choosing a dashboard should not mean choosing a dead end. The same account exposes a REST API with Bearer auth, idempotency keys, and signed webhooks, free and unlimited, so the day you do hire a developer nothing has to be migrated.
An API-first platform hands you the pieces and assumes someone will assemble them: order intake, rate shopping, purchase, tracking, reprints. Here that assembly already exists as screens. Orders arrive from a store connector, a pasted message, a dropped screenshot, or a spoken sentence, and Billy fills in the addresses, the parcel, and the service before handing the draft back for you to confirm. Every label is a debit against a prepaid wallet topped up with card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto, so there is no monthly minimum to print. The REST API is still there, free and unlimited, for the day you want to automate a piece of it.

Connectors, REST API, DMs, and screenshots — one queue, and none of them require code.
No monthly minimum to print, and no engineer required to reprint one.
Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and TikTok Shop sync into To Ship and get tracking pushed back when you print — no webhook handler to write and nothing to host. And when an order arrives as an Instagram or Facebook DM, paste it or screenshot it and Billy builds the label anyway.
Via AI tiles: an order that never became a record still becomes a label.
Choosing a dashboard over an API should not cost you rate shopping, carriers, or the all-in quote. These are the pieces you keep — plus the two an API-only tool cannot give a small shop: AI that drafts the label, and a wallet with no monthly minimum under it.
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH bank transfer, and crypto all top up the same balance, and every method buys identical rates, carriers, and features. Void a shipment and the credit lands back in the wallet.
A DM, a comment thread, a voice note, a screenshot — Billy reads any of them and drafts the whole label. On an API-only platform, every one of those inputs is a project someone has to scope.
Fund the wallet, pay per label, and ship nothing in February without paying for February. Pro is an optional flat plan for when volume makes cheaper label pricing worth it — not a gate on printing.
Live all-in rates side by side, and the number you see is the exact amount that leaves your balance. The discounted rates are built into the account, so you never negotiate a carrier contract to get a competitive price. Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and TikTok Shop sync into To Ship and push tracking back when you print, but a connector is never a prerequisite.
REST and JSON, one Bearer header, idempotency keys so a retry cannot double-buy a label, and signed webhooks for tracking and label events. Start in the dashboard and automate later without changing platforms.

An API-only platform assumes there is always a machine between you and the label. Some days there is a packing table and a phone. Paste the message, snap the thread, or hold the mic — the same four-carrier rate shopping runs from the device already in your hand.
On a developer platform, every question about a shipment is a query someone has to write. Here you ask it. Hold the mic, say who it is going to, and Billy looks up the buyer, rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, and queues the label against your prepaid balance — then answers for it afterwards. This is the real product, not a render.

Plain English in — names, addresses, weights, carriers, services · nothing to integrate and nothing to deploy · reads the all-in rate back before a cent leaves the wallet · phone, browser, or Telegram.
Three carriers on the same parcel, each an all-in number that is the exact amount leaving your prepaid balance. You do not have to reconcile a platform fee against a carrier invoice at the end of the month, because there is no platform fee and no invoice — and voiding a shipment credits the wallet.

REST, JSON, one Bearer header. Real idempotency keys so a retried request cannot double-buy a label, signed webhooks for tracking and label events instead of polling, and errors that name what to fix. Nothing about starting in the dashboard closes the API door later, and calls never carry a per-shipment fee.

Free covers 50 shipments a month with the public API, the store connectors, and Billy all unlimited underneath it — we make a little on each label instead. Pro is a flat monthly fee for unlimited shipments, cheaper label pricing, and Billy on Telegram. Neither one bills you for API calls, and neither is a minimum you have to hit before a label prints.

These are the shops for which a dashboard, an assistant, and built-in carrier rates are the difference between shipping today and shipping after a project — and the ones who should stay are named on this page too.
TikTok Shop & live commerce
When the same person answers DMs, packs boxes, and pays the bills, an API is not a shipping tool. A screen with four prices on it is.

I run my Etsy shop from the kitchen. The AI reads the order, picks the carrier, the label prints. That's the whole workflow now.

The API is what every shipping API pretends to be. Idempotency that actually works.
