Shipping labels without a monthly subscription

Fund a wallet, print a label, done.

You can buy shipping labels without a monthly subscription by funding a prepaid wallet and paying the carrier rate per label, with USPS, UPS and FedEx quoted side by side (DHL on international lanes) and no plan fee on Free, which covers 50 shipments a month.

How to get labels with no subscription and keep the tools.

To buy shipping labels without a monthly subscription, fund a prepaid wallet and pay the carrier rate per label, with USPS, UPS and FedEx quoted side by side (DHL on international lanes) and no plan fee on Free, which covers 50 shipments a month. The usual worry is that dropping the subscription drops the features too. The table below shows what stays.

  GoatLabels Subscription tools
Monthly subscription None on Free (up to 50 shipments a month); past that, Pro is a flat $40 a month. A plan tier chosen before the first label.
How a label is paid for Debited from a prepaid wallet at the carrier rate quoted on screen. Charged on top of, or inside, the plan; some add a per-label fee too.
Carriers USPS, UPS and FedEx side by side, DHL abroad. Varies by tool and sometimes by tier.
Store sync 13 connectors, including Shopify, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Etsy, and Walmart. Store count is a common tier boundary.
Bulk and automation Bulk CSV import, one To Ship queue, browser printing (PrintNode auto-print on Pro). Often reserved for mid or upper tiers.
API REST label API on every account. Frequently a higher tier or a separate product.

Subscription tools are described here in general terms. Plans, fees, and carrier lists change — compare against each tool's current pricing page before you decide.

Updated

Three things people expect to lose without a subscription, and do not.

Store sync

The assumption is that connectors are what the plan pays for. On GoatLabels all 13 connectors, from Shopify and WooCommerce to TikTok Shop, Etsy, Walmart, and Temu, feed the same To Ship queue on a wallet-funded account with no monthly fee on Free, up to 50 shipments a month.

The API and automation

Developers expect the API to sit behind a tier. The REST label API, bulk CSV import, and browser printing are all available without a subscription; PrintNode auto-print comes with Pro.

Help drafting the label

The AI assistant that reads a pasted message or a screenshot and drafts the label is not a premium add-on. It is part of the same Free account, alongside rate shopping across USPS, UPS and FedEx on every domestic parcel, with DHL on international lanes.

And when a subscription is the better deal

  • You ship high, steady volume every month and a subscription tool's negotiated rates beat the carrier rates you would pay per label. Their current pricing page is the place to check.
  • You need more than labels: inventory, warehouse management, or a returns portal that comes bundled with a plan.
  • Your team is settled in a subscription tool and the workflow is working. Nothing on this page is a reason to break something that is not broken.
Orders end to end

Sync the stores. Handle the rest too.

Connect any of the 13 live connectors — Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Etsy, Walmart, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, Square, Magento, and Temu — and orders land in one To Ship queue. Import a spreadsheet in bulk by CSV, paste a message, or drop in a screenshot, and the AI assistant drafts the recipient, the parcel, and the service for you to confirm. Every label is a pay-as-you-go debit against a prepaid wallet with no monthly fee on Free (up to 50 shipments a month), and the quote you accepted for USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL is the exact amount that leaves the balance.

What sellers without a plan keep, and what they stop paying for.

Everything you had before.
Without a monthly fee.

Leaving a subscription tool should not cost you the carriers, the store sync, or the API. Those all come with you. What does not come with you is a monthly fee on Free, up to 50 shipments a month, and what is new is an assistant that turns a message into a drafted label.

The packing table, not the desk

A message is a valid order input.

Most tools expect the order to already exist somewhere they can read. When a buyer messages instead, you become the integration. GoatLabels takes the message itself, on the phone that is already next to the tape gun.

Paste the message or drop a screenshot — the AI assistant pulls out the buyer, the address, and the parcel.
No CSV export and no import mapping: the message is the order record.
USPS, UPS and FedEx come back as all-in prices on one screen, DHL on international lanes.
Buy from the prepaid balance and print from the browser (PrintNode auto-print on Pro).
Hold the mic at the packing table and say the address — the assistant drafts it and reads the rate back.
Hands full of packing tape

Talk to Billy, not to an import screen.

Packing is a two-hands job, and most software's answer is a form. Hold the mic, say who it is going to, and Billy looks up the buyer, rate-shops USPS, UPS and FedEx (DHL on international lanes), and queues the label against your prepaid balance, then answers for it afterwards when the buyer asks where the parcel is. This is the real product, not a render.

Shipping labels without a monthly subscription — FAQ

Can I buy shipping labels without a monthly subscription?
Yes. Fund a prepaid wallet, and each label is debited at the carrier rate quoted on screen. Free has no monthly fee and covers 50 shipments a month; above that, Pro is a flat $40 a month with unlimited shipments. USPS, UPS and FedEx are quoted side by side on every domestic parcel, with DHL on international lanes.
What do I give up by not paying a subscription?
On Free you keep the label workflow: USPS, UPS and FedEx on every domestic parcel with DHL on international lanes, 13 store connectors, bulk CSV import, the To Ship queue, browser printing, the REST label API and the AI assistant in the web app, for up to 50 shipments a month. Pro ($40 a month) adds unlimited shipments, Billy on Telegram, unlimited address validation and PrintNode auto-print. Neither plan includes inventory or warehouse management, which some subscription tools bundle.
Is there a per-label platform fee instead?
The amount debited from the wallet is the all-in carrier rate you accepted on screen. There is no monthly fee on Free (up to 50 shipments a month) and no separate platform charge added between the quote and the debit.
Do I have to prepay a large amount?
No. You choose how much to fund, and the balance only goes down when you print a label. A wallet you stop using simply keeps its balance.
Can I connect my store without a subscription?
Yes. All 13 live connectors, including Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Etsy, Walmart, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, Square, Magento, and Temu, sync into the To Ship queue on the standard account.
Which countries can I ship from?
US and Singapore origins. From the US, USPS, UPS and FedEx are rate-shopped side by side on every domestic parcel, with DHL on international lanes; from Singapore, UPS, FedEx, SingPost and other local couriers quote.

Want the model explained? Read pay-as-you-go shipping software. Cancelling a plan first? See how to cancel ShipStation or how to cancel Stamps.com.
