A ShipBob alternative for brands that ship in-house

Your stock stays in your hands.

For brands that pack their own orders, GoatLabels replaces ShipBob's 3PL service with shipping software: one To Ship queue fed by 13 store connectors, USPS, UPS and FedEx quoted side by side (DHL on international lanes), and pay-as-you-go labels with no monthly fee on Free, up to 50 shipments a month.

Should an in-house brand use ShipBob or shipping software?

Shipping software, if you pack your own orders; ShipBob if you want a warehouse to hold and ship stock. GoatLabels is the ShipBob alternative for brands that pack their own orders: instead of a 3PL that stores and ships your stock, you get one To Ship queue fed by 13 store connectors, USPS, UPS and FedEx quoted side by side (DHL on international lanes), and pay-as-you-go labels with no monthly fee on Free, up to 50 shipments a month. ShipBob is a warehouse; this is the software for keeping the warehouse yours.

Why do brands bring fulfilment back in-house?

The unboxing is part of the product

A 3PL packs to a spec. A brand that hand-writes a note, folds tissue a certain way, or drops in a sample cannot express that as a pick-list. GoatLabels leaves the packing to you and handles the part that should be automatic: the quote, the label, and the print.

Your volume does not justify a warehouse

A 3PL quote prices implementation, receiving, warehousing, and fulfilment for a scale many brands never reach. A prepaid wallet with no monthly fee on Free costs you the carrier rate per label for up to 50 shipments a month, and past that Pro is one flat $40 a month, which is the right shape for a brand still growing.

You want to see every order before it leaves

When stock is in someone else's building you find out about a problem after the customer does. Keeping fulfilment in-house with one To Ship queue, carriers quoted side by side, and auto-print via PrintNode or the browser means the order passes through your hands on the way out.

And when you should stay with ShipBob

  • You genuinely do not have the space, hands, or hours to pack orders yourself. A 3PL exists for that, and no software replaces a warehouse.
  • You need inventory positioned in several regions for fast delivery. GoatLabels ships from US and Singapore origins you control; it does not distribute your stock.
  • Your volume is high enough that ShipBob's negotiated fulfilment and carrier terms beat the carrier rates you would pay yourself. Check their current site and do the sums honestly.

What ShipBob's own pages say, checked 2026-10-17

  • ShipBob prices fulfillment by custom quote and lists its standard fees as implementation, receiving inventory, warehousing, and picking, packing and shipping each order. (ShipBob fulfillment pricing)
  • Its pricing FAQ says the ShipBob software and its turnkey integrations are free for all customers. (ShipBob fulfillment pricing)
  • Returns are a value-added service charged at a flat fee per return, applied when the return arrives at a ShipBob fulfillment center. (ShipBob fulfillment pricing)
  • ShipBob says it negotiates bulk discounts with UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL and regional carriers and passes them on to customers. (ShipBob fulfillment pricing)
  • ShipBob runs fulfillment centers in the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia and Europe, and offers its WMS to merchants with US-based warehouses. (ShipBob fulfillment pricing)
  • Wholesale, B2B and EDI orders are fulfilled at an additional cost, and kitting is available once approved. (ShipBob fulfillment pricing)

Orders end to end

Sync the stores. Handle the rest too.

Connect any of the 13 live connectors — Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Etsy, Walmart, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, Square, Magento, and Temu — and orders land in one To Ship queue. Import a spreadsheet in bulk by CSV, paste a message, or drop in a screenshot, and the AI assistant drafts the recipient, the parcel, and the service for you to confirm. Every label is a pay-as-you-go debit against a prepaid wallet with no monthly fee on Free (up to 50 shipments a month), and the quote you accepted for USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL is the exact amount that leaves the balance.

The packing table, not the desk

A message is a valid order input.

Most tools expect the order to already exist somewhere they can read. When a buyer messages instead, you become the integration. GoatLabels takes the message itself, on the phone that is already next to the tape gun.

Paste the message or drop a screenshot — the AI assistant pulls out the buyer, the address, and the parcel.
No CSV export and no import mapping: the message is the order record.
USPS, UPS and FedEx come back as all-in prices on one screen, DHL on international lanes.
Buy from the prepaid balance and auto-print via PrintNode or print from the browser.
Hold the mic at the packing table and say the address — the assistant drafts it and reads the rate back.
Hands full of packing tape

Talk to Billy, not to an import screen.

Packing is a two-hands job, and most software's answer is a form. Hold the mic, say who it is going to, and Billy looks up the buyer, rate-shops USPS, UPS and FedEx (DHL on international lanes), and queues the label against your prepaid balance, then answers for it afterwards when the buyer asks where the parcel is. This is the real product, not a render.

ShipBob alternative for brands that ship in-house — FAQ

Is GoatLabels a ShipBob alternative?
Only for brands that ship in-house. ShipBob is a 3PL that stores and ships your stock; GoatLabels is software for brands that keep fulfilment in their own hands, with one To Ship queue, USPS, UPS and FedEx quoted side by side (DHL on international lanes), and pay-as-you-go labels with no monthly fee on Free, up to 50 shipments a month.
Does GoatLabels store or pick my inventory?
No. Your stock stays where it is and you pack the orders. GoatLabels handles rate shopping across USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, the label, and printing.
How do orders get into GoatLabels?
Through 13 live connectors including Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Etsy, Walmart, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, Square, Magento, and Temu, through bulk CSV import, or through the REST label API. Everything lands in one To Ship queue.
What does it cost compared with a 3PL?
GoatLabels charges the carrier rate per label from a prepaid wallet, with no monthly fee on Free (50 shipments a month) and one flat monthly plan on Pro; the live carrier quote on screen is the price. ShipBob prices fulfilment by custom quote, so request one and compare it against your own label spend plus the time you spend packing.
Can I print labels automatically?
Yes. Auto-print via PrintNode sends each label straight to a thermal printer, or you can print from the browser. Bulk CSV import and the queue handle a batch day without a warehouse team.
Can I move back in-house gradually?
Yes. You can keep a 3PL for one channel or region while packing the rest yourself. GoatLabels runs alongside whatever ShipBob still handles, with no monthly fee for the overlap while your in-house volume stays within Free's 50 shipments a month; past that, Pro is $40 a month with no minimum term.

Packing a batch day yourself? See the batch fulfilment workflow. Importing orders in bulk? Read bulk labels from CSV.

Test it on the next order that lands.

Keep the packing table.
Automate the label.

Fund a wallet, connect the stores you sell on, and put the next order through a queue that quotes USPS, UPS and FedEx side by side (DHL on international lanes) and prints from your own printer.

No contract. No card required. No monthly fee on Free, up to 50 shipments a month.
